THE FARM

A lemon orchard that became a rose garden.

Rose Story Farm began in 1998, when the Hahn family cleared part of their Carpinteria lemon orchard and planted a thousand rose bushes. Today it is 15 acres and 30,000 plants across more than 130 varieties, chosen for fragrance and old-world shape rather than shipping durability.


Owner Danielle Dall'Armi Hahn is an award-winning rosarian and the author of The Color of Roses. The farm supplies florists and designers across the country, and blooms rotate in roughly six-week cycles, so something is always in flower from mid-April through November.

  • Can I book all three residences together?

    Yes. Booked together the three residences sleep up to 17 guests across nine bedrooms, with the gardens, tennis court and lookout reserved for your group. Contact our team for full-farm availability.

  • Is the farm open to the public while I am staying?

    Rose Story Farm is a private working farm and is not open to the public. Scheduled garden tours run during the season, and our team will let you know if any fall during your stay.

  • When is the best time to visit for blooms?

    The season runs from mid-April to the end of November, with blooms rotating in roughly six-week cycles, so there is colour on the farm throughout. Late spring and early autumn are the fullest.

  • What is on the grounds?

    A pool and hot tub, a private tennis court, a fitness center, expansive lawns, flower-covered pergolas, rose-covered pathways and a hillside lookout over the valley.

  • How far is the beach?

    Carpinteria State Beach is about eight minutes by car, Rincon Point around ten, and downtown Santa Barbara roughly twenty.
